Digital Steganography: the Art and Science of Hiding Information in Postmodern Time

The word "steganography" came from two greek words: "steganos" which means covered/hidden/protected and "graphei" which means writing/information.  It simply means hidden writing or information known only to the sender and to the recipient.

Steganography is very different from cryptography.  The latter used encryption which will raise suspicion to anyone while the former simply used a plain picture, music, document, video, or program unaware to anyone of its hidden info.

Here are some of the videos for you to know and learn how to use Steganographic tools to hide pertinent infomation in picture, sound, and other media files:

As you can see, there are different methods to accomplish digital steganography.  A detailed studies on steganoraphy can be found in the following links:

Today you can really say that "there's more than meets the eye" that's why from now on beware and be aware that not every picture that you see, not every sound or music that you hear, not every video that you watch, not every document that you read, etc. are just that... Think and be enlightened!

Free Electricity from the Tree by Periander A. Esplana

A tree is created by God to supply our basic needs.  We used it to breath (oxygen from the tree), to eat (fruits from the tree), and to live (wood from the tree).  In this postmodern time, electricity is already one of our basic needs in our home and in our society. Thus, it is not surprising to know that we can also get electricity from the tree.

If you are familiar with the basic concept of science, you will surely see the possibility of tree electricity.  Just look at the following videos to see that vegetable and fruit can generate electricity:

When I was a child, I made a joke that someday I will directly get electricity from a coconut tree. As I grow older, this became a common joke I usually gave to my colleagues in the past.  If we can used fruit and vegetable as sources of electricity, how much more is the tree itself?

Today, this is not just a possibility because it is now a reality. A company named Magcap Engineering, LLC (http://www.magcap.com/) seriously took the idea of tree electricity.  The idea originally came from the inventor Gordon Wadle who approached the said company to design a circuit.

A simple test of driving an aluminum nail by about one-half inch into a tree attached to a copper pipe driven by about seven inches into the ground have produced 0.8 volts to 1.2 volts.

To conduct a simple experiment, read the article of Ankita Vashishtha submitted to 2011 2nd International Conference on Environmental Science and Development (www.ipcbee.com/vol4/9-ICESD2011D021.pdf)

To read the complete U.S. Patent application of Gordon Wadle, click here: http://www.rexresearch.com/wadlevoltree/wadlevoltree.htm

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) joined with the Magcap Engineering, LLC in harnessing electricity from the tree to utilize it in the sensor system to prevent forest fires.  Read the MIT TechTalk, Volume 53, Number 3, p.4 (http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2008/techtalk53-3.pdf)

As a result, a new company was born with the name Voltree Power (http://www.voltreepower.com/) which successfully completes the first installation of the Javelin Rapid Deploy System for US Forest Service (http://www.reuters.com/article/2010/03/30/idUS200188+30-Mar-2010+BW20100330)

Here are some of the videos on Voltree Power:

I believed that someday free electricity from the tree can be utilized in our homes and in our society.  I hoped that this blog helps you to see and know that there is indeed free electricity from the tree.  Therefore, let's plant more trees!  You are welcome to post your comments and additional researches below.  God bless.
